Talk to Urologist on Urinary Retention

i think i have urinary retention.i resisted to pee one day for almost 10 hours and i guess this might be the cause.now it has been a week and im still facing difficulty emptying my bladder and feel the need to pee just after urination.i wanted to know that if urinary retention go away on its own..or if the stretched bladder can return to normal or how much time does it take to return to its origin normally?..please guide.
