Talk to Urologist on PSA Test Results
Asking For Father, Male 60, lahore
My father is having prostrate problem. Doctor recently recommended PSA and ultrasound tests. Today I got result for the PSA test. His value is 15.71
I need your expert opinion, as I googled and it says 4 Value is Normal and if you have more than 10 then their are chances for Cancer.
Kindly enlighten me, is it correct ?

I would suggest you see a Urologist in person. There are certain other causes of a rise in PSA value as well. Urologist will examine the prostate through the back passage and would likely recommend more tests if needed. If prostate examination is abnormal, a biopsy would be suggested to confirm the diagnosis.

There is no absolute number for the PSA value, it is directly related to prostate size. Bigger the gland, bigger the value.
In some instances, even the higher values are not associated with cancer.
Hence, a good clinical examination and if there is a suspicion, an MRI of prostate coupled with Prostate biopsy would clarify the situation.
Have the prostate test (PSA) rechecked from a reputable laboratory.

Thank you for your reply. My Father has 160g weight of Prostrate.
Furthermore, doctor suggested us to go for biopsy...
