Talk to Gynecologist on Can I Pet My Cats During Pregnancy

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Female 27, karachi

Respected Doctor, It's my 19th week of pregnancy. I have cats at my home. I got tested for toxoplasmosis and Igg came back negative. I don't handle the cat's litter box, and I always wash my hands after touching or petting them. Now I'm skeptical about whether I should get myself tested for toxoplasmosis again or not. Because I'm not immune to the disease.

Respected doctor, I need your guidance. Are cats really very harmful or is it just a myth?

ok if ur test wqs negative in start of pregnancy that means u are not immune to disease.so u should avoid any handling of cat litter.because God forbid if any 1 acquires the infection during pregnancy it can cause problem in baby.as u said u are observing precautions so no need of yest now.have ur routine anomaly scan done.
