Asking for Other, Male, 1 years old, Sangla Hill
My child of 15 months old have severe cough and fever usually vomits after eating. I m giving calpol and cofcol from five days but he is not recovering. I m avoiding antibiotics, what should do now as he is not getting well.

If the fever is high grade and/or he has difficulty in breathing such as rapid breathing or indrawing of chest, turns blue or has an inability to feed, he should be immediately reviewed by a child specialist. Cough suppressant are not advisable in children under 6 years of age. Usually under 2 years of age children have viral infection of breathing tubes called Bronchiolitis which does not warrant use of antibiotics.
