Asking for Self, Female, 31 years old, Lahore

I am taking fluoxetine 20mg for past 7 months because OCD and depression. I am having restless legs at night since I started this medicine. I got fine in between but it has started again with even more intensity. I asked my doctor if it's because of this medicine but he said no. As soon as I am about to fall asleep I get severely restlessness and then I am unable to sleep at all. I exercise regularly and I have also tried different remedies like heating pads and pain relief ointments. Nothing works.

It appears you are suffering from restless leg syndrome. some antidepressants can make it worse and Fluoxetine is also among them. However, I would suggest a psychiatric assessment to rule out other causes and suggest alternate treatment if it is due to Fluoxetine

I never had restless legs before taking fluoxetine. That's why I think it's due to this drug. However, my doctor doesn't agree that fluoxetine is causing it.

You need a detailed assessment and correct diagnosis before treatment. It may be part of your original disease or side effect of medication. However detailed assessment is mandatory. It may be done with your visit or online consultation
