None of these meds is the direct "cause" of Diabetes as such. However,
Valproate (Depakine) is known to cause weight gain and, resultantly,
enhances the risk of developing type II Diabetes. Abilify is not commonly
known for causing any significant weight gain.
I suggest you to do bit of online literature search on clinical use of
these meds as mood stabilizer. This will help you find answer to your
second question. Generally speaking, these meds are not "forbidden" in
Diabetic patients. However risks and benefits need to be discussed in a
clinical review by psychiatrist. Obviously this will be dictated by current
symptoms and previous history of bipolar illness as well effectiveness of
diabetic control in place.

Even if using high dose of abilify like 30mg per day? Could it be the reason of diabetes? Could high dose cause rise in sugar level in diabetic patients ?
