Asking for Other, Male, 0.3 years old, Islamabad
Aoa! Kindly tag a paediatric. My baby boy is 3.5 months old and is exclusively formula fed (Meiji FMT-1). Over the last month he has developed this habit of sucking his fingers or hands all the time. For the last two three days he is doing it all the time, even while asleep. He is not drinking milk and he seems to have fever today as his body is warmer than usual. He has become very cranky and cries all the time. Also, he rubs his nose and eyes a lot and seems irritated. From last two days I have observed that his stool had green colour more than a bit. Can he teeth at this age?? What should i do to prevent this?? How should i increase his milk intake? We want to visit a doctor in person but cannot risk during this situation. He was born a healthy baby of 8 pounds but not gaining any weight now. Kindly guide us and advice on the above concerns.
1. Babies can start teething this early, that’s not a problem. So let it be But he shouldn’t stop feeding. 2. Kindly check his fever with a thermometer, if over 100F, give syrup panadol 1/2 dropper. 3. Are you preparing the milk adequately? It should be 1 scoop full for every ounce of water. He should be drinking around 3 ounce at a time. 4. I suggest you visit a doctor in person, have him evaluated.
As per your description your baby looks well....
Remember there is no medications for teething, teething doesn't harm your baby just make him but irritable and reduce feed for couple of days.
Baby will put hands and fingers in mouth due to itching for that good hygiene of hands should be maintained nothing else....
no medication for teething or prevention....
start semisolids at 5 months nothing else to do....
dont worry
