Diarrhoea or loose motions when occurs with cough is usually caused by some kind of a virus. Usually it is a self limiting disease and does not need to be treated with antibiotics. All we are worried about in this condition is body fluids loss or dehydration. For that the child needs ORS or oral rehydration solution after each watery stool only. Avoid giving him sugary drinks such as commercial juices or even 7Up. If the fever is 100.4F or above give him paracetamol syrup on as required basis. Using antibiotics may worsen the diarrhoea.
