Talk to Pediatrician on Constipation

How often should 8 months old poop? My baby poops after 5 or 6 days. Hes been like that since he was born.. On the 4th day he becomes restless. Cant sleep or eat properly. My gp gave laxido sachets. He said baby should poop everyday if not then every other day. I just wanted to ask if its okay to give laxative to baby everyday? Doesnt the body gets addictive to laxatives?? Baby is on formula milk.
