Asking For Someone else, Daughter, Female, 2 Years old, Karachi

My 2yr old daughter has constipation since she started solids. I have been giving her lactulose on/off for the past year. Since one month she is passing stool after 8-10 days. It’s her 8th day since she last passed stool, I gave her glycerin suppository in the evening but she still has not passed stool. She is scared of pooping and often holds her poop. Please suggest what to do. She refuses to take movcol as well

constipation is generally due to dietary reasons.

treatment:
1) Ensure she eats a piece of fruit every day
2) increase fiber in her diet: brown chapati, vegetables
3) offer water to drink regularly
4) Cut down on milk if drinking too much
5) Avoid suppositories or enemas in children
6) Start Movical Paediatric sachets: one sachet a day, can go up to 4 gradually if needed. Aim for a daily soft stool. adjust the dose accordingly

hope this helps
