Asking for Other, Male, 10 years old, Karachi
My Son is Complaining of pain on eating lunch or dinner since last few years, it becomes severe occasionally. He never feel such pain while he eats snacks or biscuits. Furthermore he literally vomits if he eats or even smells fish or banana. Got to pediatrician multiple times, but couldn't sort out. This time had visited a gastroenterologist who suggested some tests, which are leading the differential diagnosis towards celiac disease, but lacks symptoms like diarrhea, growth problems, fatigue or gas problems. He is thin, but tall and active. Dr has suggested for an endoscopy, but I am a bit confused. Need suggestions. Thank you in advance Regards
He needs endoscopy and duodenal biopsy
his TTgs are positive. please get his endoscopy done. don't worry about procedure.
Your son is lacking typical symptoms of coeliac disease like diarrhoea, pain abdomen, weight loss. but labs are suggesting suspicion of coeliac disease. if tests are positive even in absence of typical symptoms then diagnosis remains same. so go for gluten withdrawal from diet like wheat, rye, barley and oats from diet. if symptoms are settled within next three months then diagnosis of coeliac disease is confirmed. in that case no need of endoscopy and biopsy
Please visit any Pediatric Gastroenterologist in your city, Get endoscopy and biopsy done for confirmation of the disease.....
Celiac disease can present many ways and with many complaints......
so dont worry and go for investigation..
..
give him special wheat and biscuits available easily in market especially for celiac children and a person having celiac disease can have a normal life....
dont worry
