Talk to Cancer - Oncology on Ovarian Cancer
Asking For Mother, Female 55, Karachi
hello drs. please can you tell whats the situation from reports? as my mother is ovarian cancer patient and already on 2ndline chemotherapy but her cancer cells are increasing... before she had 8 main chemotherapies but after 3 months her cancers cells again growing as her targeted therapies were started so her dr. suggested 2ndline chemotherapy 6 cycles and 2 already had been done but cells are not getting down ... please suggest what should we do ???

The reports shared are irrelevant as far disease status is concerned… U need to provide comparative CT scans on disease status to know if disease is in progression or not .. Do a physical visit to local oncologist for better opinion .Since you are in Karachi u can visit Dr Adeeba Zaki at Aga Khan Hospital with complete record of chemo and scans

CA-125 is a sensitive test but not specific.. it can give you an indication that treatment is not responding but we don’t change our regimen on the basis of its results . Final decision is made on scans only

jazak Allah dr. yes she is already taking treatment 2ndline chemotherapy of Dexorubin and Avastin...but these drugs are not decreasing her cancer cells ... so her oncologist said to change these chemo drugs ..
