Asking for Mother, Female, 68 years old, Lahore
Breast cancer is relapsed and now going into ribs and neck bone. One doctor is saying biopsy is must to start the treatment. Bisopsy on the other hand is not possible. Are there any treatments that can start without doing biospy? and What doctor you can recommend?
Do you have breast biopsy report? If yes then you donot need any other biopsy. Treatment should be given right away. For further details must contact in person or online consultation. To answer your questions
I would agree with biopsy in this case. Recurrent breast cancer can have a different biology and important markers such as ER, PR and her2neu should be rechecked. Before biopsy I would recommend a CT Scan to accurately determine the extent of disease and to help choose an appropriate site of biopsy. And the best doctor for you in this situation is a qualified Medical Oncologist.
Previous as well as current labs would determine further management plan. In the age of 68 years and high suspicion of metastatic disease I would like to refrain from any invasive procedures.
in relapsed metastatic breast cancer and advanced age of the patient, she should be put on capecitabine tab. along with palliative radiation to painful areas of skeleton
