Talk to Nephrologist on Kidney Stones

person-avatar

Asking for Self, Male, 27 years old, Lahore

I need to know the causes of kidney stones. Kindly tell me if:

1- Smoking can cause kidney stones? 2- Excessive eating of Dry fruits, eggs and other such food items can cause kidney stones? 3- Drinking less amount of water can cause kidney stones? 4- Excessive drinking of tea and coffee can cause kidney stones?

I do all of the above. I smoke a lot. Can smoking be a cause?

I had kidney stones 1.5 years back. one was 8mm and the other 4mm. Both of them got removed with urine after taking medication.

I was having pain in my left kidney for the past 2 months. I got an ultrasound and found out that there is another 9mm kidney stone there. Why every year I am getting this? I need to know the causes!

I went to see a doctor (urologist) yesterday and he said that all of the above are indirectly causes of kidney stones as all of the above cause dehydration.
