yes it is ok to use. Don't worry about side effects as it has been already shared with you by your physician. Strictly monitor your blood pressure, blood sugars, any infection especially white coats on tongue, pain in bones and muscles etc. Do take protection of stomach and your calcium supplements along with extra minutes of exercise in daily routine.

There is no harm in taking enteric coated deltacortil. It will work the same. Enteric coating is supposed to protect your stomach from side effects of deltacortil. But true protection from this side effect comes from taking an anti-ulcer medicine like omeprazole.

Enteric Coating is for protection of stomach erosions which can be caused by Deltacortil so Enteric coated ones are better that way. No difference in effectiveness though.

Internal Medicine Specialist in Lahore - Dr. Ahmad Naveed Sheikh

enteric coated tablets are more friendly to the stomach. steroids are notorious to cause gastric/peptic ulcers. enteric coated tablets can help prevent/worsen such conditions.

There is not much of an evidence based difference bw the two. Steriods cause gastric ulcers/erosions so they r coated to prevent this process. However, the best is to use stomach capsules to avoid this gastritis e.g omeprazole.

U can use it .. but prolong use of deltacartil is not good .. enteric coated is safe for stomach

Internal Medicine Specialist in Lahore - Dr. Ishtiaque Hussain

Thanks for asking the question. Enteric coated deltacortil is protective for stomach and is a better alternate, so you can use it. Keep in mind if you are using deltacortil for prolong duration then you have to take medicine to protect your stomach and strengthen your bone with vitamin D.

It’s a steroid and I wonder why you are on it. Enteric coated is better because long term use of steroids damages stomach lining. If you are on long term therapy then you need to be on omeprazole or any proton pump inhibitor to protect stomach.

Thanks for your question, and it’s ok or even better to use enteric coated tabs to protect the stomach. But would u like to tell the reason of using deltacortil?

Member of Marham-Forum

it doesn't really matter as long as the deltacortil strength is the same. in fact, the enteric coated would be better for your stomach.
