Asking For Mother, Female 57, karachi
My mom is a sugar patient due to that her foots thumb nail has turned black without any injury occurring to it what could be the solution
Get her hbA1c done. Might be due to uncontrolled sugar. Does she feel sensations in her feet? Hot, cold, burning etc?
You should consult an endocrinologist and a podiatrist for emergent evaluation. This could be a dangerous sign and could even lead to toe amputation. You need to have an immediate in-person consultation with your physician.
It is urgent you need to treat its may be complications of diabetes
Control Diabetes aggressively. Also check blood pressure regularly.Give injection Methycobal intramuscular one daily for 5 days.Wash with Oxoforin solution or Normal saline and keep it wrapped with to avoid cold.Tell me after 5 days.
Assalamualaikum. Please send more reports and previous dr prescriptions on my whatsapp: Zero three one five five zero five five zero zero two. Wassalam.

test HbA1 needed, also walk around more as possible,
if she feel sensation in her toes then leave it and just control sugar by diabetologist.
but if numbness is there and nail is pulling out and unfix on nail bed then it has to remove by a nearby sergeon. take care of all ither toes too bcz sugar can lead them to gangrenous. thanks.
Please kindly book for consultation.. Because need to check her completely..
AoA
you should check your mom's HbA1c which will show her control over her diabetes for last 3 months
foot examination is required
your mother must be guided about proper foot care as diabetic foot if not treated properly could lead to amputation
You need to take this situation into serious consideration. First of all , get CBC, HbA1c test , RBS and fasting blood glucose levels checked along with X-ray of affected foot and if possible Doppler for assessment of any vessel occlusion. It requires proper foot examination as well. Another cause of foot nails turning black could be any fungal infection as diabetic patients usually have weak immune system.
