Myasthenia Gravis

Question

I have been using Amygra medicine for around a decade as a temporary fix for myasthenia gravis and it is effective for some time but then the situation goes back to usual. I want to know if this abnormality if curable or not as I have this from my childhood. If it's curable then I want to know about the specialists who is expert in treating this disease so that I can get an appointment asap.

hi...what u can do is do low impact exercises like swimming,walking,light jogging etc to give good impact over the muscles....basically the levels of acetylcholine needs to be increased in ur case which can stimulate receptors as well as provide u enough energy to perform ur day routine works n all....
u can better take an appointment from neurophysician or some good neurosurgeon as well so both could sit together n u can have both of their opinions simultaneously ...i m sure this would make ur matter solved....have a good day..

MG is a progressive disease which can be managed under specislist care with choice of various approaches (Drug tt as you mentioned, immunosuppressive selective tt, plasmapheresis, thymus surgery etc.).
Best advised to consult a neurologist for assessment and choice of treatment.
you are young and should consider the best or combination of options for a quality life.

This is autoimmune disease, there are 3 treatment methods available
Medicine treatment include pyridostigmine and neostigmine, u are using amygra which pyridostigmine
How many mg tablet u are using because some people we may increase doses to increase acetylcholine receptor to overcome the symptoms patient is facing

2nd therapy is immunosuppressive they which include steroid
We given short of steroid dose then tapper it to improve patient symptoms

3rd is immunomodulatory therapy if symptoms worsen we may use
Itravenous immunoglobulin which is proce result in shorter time

4th is surgical option thymectomy

In myasthenia gravis there are remission of symptom and patient can be improve with proper followup, with the medical treatment

Pyridostigmine is used for symptomatic treatment only. It does not treat the underlying disease.

In the mild form of the disease, AChE inhibitors are used initially. These agents include pyridostigmine andÂ neostigmine. Pyridostigmine is used for maintenance therapy.
Most patients with generalized MG require additional immunomodulating therapy. Immunomodulation can be achieved by various medications, such as commonly used corticosteroids.
but we can not use corticosteroids for prolonged periods due to their side effects
non steroidal immunomodulatory therapies such as azathioprine and tacrolimus are then used frequently for a period of months to years and then it is tapered down very gradually
last option is thymectomy for patients refractory to all other therapies
intravenous immunoglobulins are rapid response treatment in patients with respiratory difficulty or swallowing difficulty
so in short treatment process is quite long but however curable
the specialists who deal with myasthenia gravis are called neurophysicians
