Talk to General Physician on Hypertension

I have been diagnosed with hypertension a week ago. Previously, i had some episodes of high blood pressure occasionally. The doctor gave me medication named (amvasc 2.5 mg) once daily. on my follow-up visit yesterday, I came to know that my blood pressure is still high. Doctor asked me to carry on the prescribed medicine. However, i am not satisfied. Additionally, i have some stress and depression which I feel are associated with hypertension. could someone please guide me about hypertension.
