Talk to General Physician on Fasting Blood Test

person-avatar

Asking For Self, Male 47, Pakistan

I tried to search on Internet but could not find exact answer. So 8 hours fasting is must for blood sugar and lipid profile but what is upper limit? Will the test vary if let's say fasting (no water) is about 12 ~ 13 hours?

Preferably 10-12 hours fasting is enough for better assessment. Water doesn’t influence readings.
