person-avatar

Asking for Other, Female, 60 years old, Kuwait

My mother in law fell in bathroom got heart on back so she got hurt on her back side of head we did CT scan they said it is a brain hematoma we are so confused what to do please someone can help?

General Physician in Lahore - Dr. Irfana Amir

AOA! She should be kept in hospital for at least 48 hours for observation to see any warning signs and symptoms of head injury . Hematoma would resolve after few days otherwise. If she is on some chronic medication let the doctor check those in detail and they will prescribe some medicines to get the hematoma resolved. Thanks

depending upon patients signs and symptoms. hematomas usually subside on there own.

if the hematoma is inside the brain, not just on the scalp skin, she needs neurosurgical advice

hi
I guess sensible approach should be a consult with neurosurgeon. This is not a forum I would suggest to sort out treatment.there are different types of brain hematome some are serious than others and as mentioned location and size of hematoma along with potential symptoms progression of symptoms duration of bleed is important to determine what sort of therapeutic intervention(surgery or observation) needed. if you share CT scan one may be able to sign post you in rt direction
regards
Kashif
