Asking For Self, Male 23, Islamabad

Currently, I'm on medication due to Gastroenterology related problem and using medicines: Rifaxa, Bismol, Sulvorid, Spesmil neo and Rebicid. Stool black color me aa raha hai. It could be because of these medicine or there can be any other issue?

thanks for question...your black color stool can be due to medicine like bismol.you can stop the medicine for few days and then check your stool color.if it becomes normal again then you dont need to do any thing.other wise will advise you further.

You may have a bleeding ulcer in stomach and will need endoscopy.

Endoscopy was already done to rule out Celiac and H pylori but it was ok.

Bismol is a drug which can cause black stool.. Get ur CBC done... Stop Bismol then still if there is black stool then ur gut need to have a look endoscopically

Thanks Doc. I haven't used Bismol for one day and the stool is back to its original color.

Okay , make sure none of the tablets contain iron as this can give you false dark stools. Make sure hb remains stable. Take high dose PPI such as Es omeprazole 40 for 2 week and avoid spices etc. See if this makes a difference
