Asking For Self, Female 21, karachi

I have - 5 vision in both eyes. I need info about LASER eye treatment. What are the pros and cons? What will be the total expenses? Why should I and should not get it? Can my vision get weak again after tx? What is post op care? And are there any less invasive/less costly alternatives?

Assalam alekum. laser eye treatment for high myopia like yours depends on suitability of client's eye and body health. it also depends on whether the number is increasing to get worse or has stabilized. usually the number continues to increase by age 24. unless your eye number has been the same for the last 5 years you will not be suitable for surgery. furthermore, the thickness of your cornea, the health of your retina and any other conditions of eye like dryness or allergies will need to be assessed along with the type of eye number you have. if all these are suitable, you can be offered LASIK eye surgery.
the pro is obviously not having glasses for distance. cosmetic improvement and psychological benefit. the cons are that the old age near vision starts decreasing earlier than usual (around 35 instead of 40 for most people and you will need to use near glasses earlier.
choice to get laser eye surgery done depends on your lifestyle (athletic people swimming and exercise need glasses removed) cosmetic need etc. it is an expensive procedure and it's better to get it done from very expert people as the potential side effects are quite severe including loss of vision or decrease in vision if something goes wrong during surgery. more expert a person is, the more they will charge for their skill. they will explain the post op care in detail but usually involve eye closure for 12 hours and eye drops every 2 hours for a few days then every 4 hours for a week or so etc. dry eyes may continue for 6 months or so leading to blurring of vision and slight burning sensation but it can be helped by eye lubricant drops and usually settles in 6 to 8 months unless your body does not follow usual healing patterns.
less invasive alternatives are using contact lenses but please follow hygiene protocols to prevent eye infections during putting them in, taking them out and storing them
