AOA. My mother is diabetic patient and from last 6 months my mother visit some eye specialist including brig Iftikhar. He say your eyesight is fine and its match with your glasses. a diabetic patient should have retinal review at baseline , then every 1 to 3 years , depending on condition ofcretina.
if glasses are appropriate, she may have retinopathy which is a complication of diabetes.
retinopathy, if present, means that kidney is also affected by diabetes.
she should
1) get detailed retinal examination from a large and reliable eye department (preferably rawalpindi medical college hospital)
2) check serum creatinine, urine DR, serum potassium
3) check blood sugars at home as follows:
Check blood sugar once daily as follows:
Day 1: fasting
Day 2: 2 hours after breakfast
Day 3: 15 minutes before lunch
Day 4:Â 2 hours after lunch
Day 5:Â Â 15 minutes before dinner
Day 6: 2 hours after dinner
