Asking For Sister, Female 24, Rawalpindi
had root canal and crowning 7 years ago .. but now its painful out of sudden. dont know why but can not bite . inner side( the one on the side of tounge)of the crown is painful not whole crown but inner side . took 2 panadol tablets for pain , pain is reduced but still can not bite it hurts on inner side . help and suggest what to do? what could be possible reason of it . can there be infection inside the crown ? if yes suggestions please?

Pain can be due to food impaction on tongue side, or fracture in tooth, or reinfection in root treated tooth.
Aoa. yes there might e infection inside the root canal system. .

It seems to be an infection involving the crowned tooth, you should visit a nearby dentist ASAP for proper evaluation and treatment
You will have to visit the clinic for a check up. We need to get an x ray done to check for infection and then treat accordingly

We will know everything once we get an x ray done because it looks fine on the outside but on the inside is another story

Can you please send a picture of that area to see the problem and would be better if you have an xray
After getting it properly accessed then we can plan further treatment . But if it is completely lost then there are two options . One is crown and second is implants . Long term is implants but crown is non surgical .

okay mam ... the dentist i visited today said either bridge or implantation... and re root canal generally only have 60%chances of success. is it so?

It can if the cause is spreading . We can only diagnose the issue by looking at the xray

the xray is not as clear as required to see the root part of the tooth and adjacent teeth as well. so go for a fresh and clear xray.
