I tend to tighten my jaw while sleeping, no grinding. Lately it's been affecting the movement of my jaw's joints. It sounds like there is friction or it pops if I open my jaw widely. I want to know if a dental retainer or gaurd can solve it? What are the costs?

Night Gaurd is preventive not treatment But you must take examination may be it's due to muscles

You are having TMJ problem because of teeth grinding . You need to get night guard or splint for correction of your grinding problem. Night guard is not very expensive. fix an appointment for the proper treatment
